Thread: USB 3.0 plug going into USB 2.0 socket... flaky!

hi people.

have bought transcend jetflash 700 usb 3.0 flash drive, , have annoying issue - when plug drive usb 2.0 socket (note: not force in) hit , miss whether or not pc recognises insertion , mounting of drive. however, if ease drive out 2-3mm, connection makes, , rock solid, whereas if had wiggled flash drive when pushed usb 2.0 socket, have intermittent connection.

having cleaned usb 2.0 ports on 2 pcs, , having cleaned plug of brand new flash drive, can think legacy usb 2.0/1.1/1.0 contacts inside usb 3.0 plug way short, as, when compare wear marks on gold contacts on other usb device, wear seems travel far further down contacts inside usb 2.x/1.x plug, , usb 3.0 plug's legacy usb 2.x/1.x contacts within it, seem far far shorter.

### in nutshell, spring-loaded contacts within usb 2.x/1.x socket, seem travel far down legacy usb 2.x/1.x contacts inside usb 3.0 *plug*, either going far , off end of them, breaking circuit, or far off end of them, , hitting one/all of 5 usb 3.0 contacts... ###

has else had issues putting usb 3.0 plug usb 2.x/1.x pc or motherboard?

here new style contacts - pretty annoyed this.
