Thread: Problem with Sierra mc7710 LTE modem

hi,

have new vaio laptop built-in 4g lte modem sierra mc7710 can't work in ubuntu, works perfect in windows.

first problem seams radio not enabled, stays in low power mode
code:
at!gstatus? !gstatus: current time: 602 temperature: 3t 5 bootup time: 1 mode: low power mode system mode: unknown ps state: not attached gmm (ps) state:deregistered no service mm (cs) state: idle no service
i have tried at+cfun=1 enable radio there no difference. in windows when have enabled modem at!gstatus show modem connected , not in low power mode.

have tried different version of kernel 3.6.0 rc1 without success. have tried both via network-manager , sierra ip direct

what does
code:
rfkill list
display? mc7710 can configured either power off or enter low power mode on external rfkill signal. maybe problem sony has configured low power mode?

i don't think directip drivers work default configuration of mc7710 in vaio, interested in having assumption confirmed. device id 1199:68a2? dmesg or lsusb tell you.

full dmesg dump right after boot interesting in case. there might issues acpi or wmi driver on such new laptop, , cause problems unwanted rfkill blocking.

btw, did build qmi_wwan driver in 3.6.0 rc1 kernel? did load successfully, giving /dev/cdc-wdmx , wwany devices?
