Thread: Install ape (monkey audio codec mac) in Ubuntu 12.04

i downloaded music torrent, , got folder cover art , .ape , .cue file. i've been looking ways extract separate tracks .ape file, , posts i've been able find (for linux, windows seems easy) require installation of 'mac' codec. problem is, place i've been able find in .deb file @ http://ubuntuforums.org/attachment.p...9&d=1278575963. unfortunately, when try install package, dpkg tells me version string not start numeral, package broken. i've tried install through ubuntu software center , using apt-get, no joy.

can me out here? how can 'mac' package? has been discontinued? there other way extract .flac files .ape file? don't have problem playing .flac files in rhythmbox, banshee, exaile, movie player, smplayer or vlc player, missing?

acharn task can use flacon in repo

code:
sudo apt-get install flacon

pull down correct version of mac [which picked system]

once installed go cue file /right-click /open with/ pick flacon , choose format want separate tracks into
