Canvas not updating when switching layers


hi all, i've come across weird problem using photoshop recently, in i'll working , when switch layers, canvas wont "update"; in, wont show i've switched layers, , show change when nudge navigator box. i'm working on animation, have lot of layers on file, it's nothing classed system-heavy, in opinion. when problem in effect , go play animation, dont see playing either; canvas remains static on whichever layer last using.

 

i've never had problem before working in photoshop, makes me think may higher number of layers i'm working with. still, dont feel should having performance issues laptop i'm running.

 

the file 25.2mb psd, ~42 layers (there simple sketch on each). canvas 32.7x25cm , i'm working @ 150dpi

the photoshop i'm running 64-bit cs5, , system specs follows;

 

os; win7 64-bit
processor; intel core i7-3630qm @2.4ghz

ram; 8gb

graphics; nvidia geforce 660m

 

any ideas what's causing issue, or simple case of machine can't cope me editing file?

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
