Thread: unusual install method


can point me in right direction, im stuck

have connected harddrive old pc, via usb cable. pc boots ubuntu cd-rom , can start installation.
hd going put laptop. (at moment, ubuntu wont install onto usb connected hd ?!)

windows easy: format hd dos bootable, , copy windows onto it. stick hd laptop, boot, install windows.

how can ubuntu onto laptop.
(laptop has no cdrom, no usb, no network boot).

can full install drive. ubuntu not restrict installing internal drive. not install proprietary drivers may install wrong ones particularly video.

if hard drive connected install grub correctly, if second drive want sure install grub2 boot loader external. option manual install or else.

install external drive 11.04. second drive.
installer version has not changed still guide except not recommend separate /boot systems. older systems may need it.

installing ubuntu in hard disk 2 (or more) internal or external lots of detail - alternative (text based) installer
maverick screens shown, other versions have slight difference in screens process same.

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
