Thread: Sound VERY Quiet After a While

for reason, speakers stop working after while. i've never been able pin down length of time takes them stop working, happens frequently, , i've witnessed occurring in middle of video.

check sound levels , everything, , seems in working order, nothing's muted, sound's way up, etc. when happens, have restart computer, after work fine upon startup (i can hear startup sound, should have sound works fine, etc.).

thought speakers quitting after period of time, discovered little while ago not case. went watch youtube video , found, know, speakers aren't working. could've sworn hear faint, put ear right next speaker , sounded *something* trying come through.

plugged in pair of headphones, make sure wasn't going crazy, , after cranking volume max (150%), sure enough, sound *was* there, faint. checked levels again, way should be. can't life of me figure out.

said before, solved restarting computer, after works fine again, it's pain have every single time happens. ideas on what's going on, or how fix it?

way, when working fine (upon fresh restart), headphones work should well, meaning have have volume around 50% not punch hole in eardrums, works perfectly, while 100% speakers comfortable setting.

reference, i'm running ubuntu 11.10 on dell inspiron 1525, using laptop-integrated speakers, if matters/helps.

(also apologise if posted in wrong spot, still new forums)
