Thread: No sound in Xubuntu. Sound OK on Vista


hello all,

i'm new here , quite new in linux world.
own sony vaio laptop , had systems installed else. have windows vista os never use , xubuntu use.

problem windows has sound, while xubuntu not. mixer says volume not mute, apart cant tell more : dont know sound card own, not sure if alsa correctly installed etc...

anyway, may me fix sound problem ? here infos :
- xubuntu 10.04 lts
- xfce 4

aplay -l
should list audio devices.

simplest thing:
have tried clicking speaker symbols -> select sound settings
select "playback tab" if program playing sound example clementine should listed there. next app name there drop down box says "build-in audio analog stereo" 1 have change output device (headset). maybe yours listed there too.

sorry don't know more this, since nobody else has answered wanted give try.
