hello, before start want thank helps me resolve issue. sister has toshiba satallite a305-s6905 , not accept windows installed on hd. not computer savvy myself , helping installing xubuntu on satellite. chose xubuntuj match os using on old hp pavillion. installed xubuntu on computer no problems. satellite has 1 issue, keeps me using computer. after installation, computer booted , after splash screen xubuntu nothing weird white screen lines. believe problem video card driver or config, don't know how adjust it. tried let os fix on own, lines keep marching across screen hour. please can return computer sister

it appears gpu intel 4500mhd.
livecd work? indicator of how hard getting linux distro work on specific hardware be.

can login on network connection (ssh) or using "recovery" boot , follow these instructions?

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. (1) firstly, download , install gtkmm windows using wine. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
