Thread: Failed to create swap space?

"the creation of swap space in partition #5 of scsi1 (0,0,0) (sda) failed."

i getting error while installing lubuntu on older acer laptop (40gb hard drive, 256 mb ram).

interestingly, error when try install lubuntu 12.04 on laptop, not when install ubuntu 11.10. in both cases installing usb drive. ubuntu 11.10 installation proceeds fine. ubuntu runs on older machine wanted try lubuntu.

have tried install ubuntu 11.10, , "upgrade" lubuntu 12.04 (i had imagined lubuntu upgrade wouldn't require recreating swap space), same failure occurs then, too.

know source of failure is? there plenty of forum posts out there suggesting without authority 1 check hard drive. don't see evidence that's problem.

post moved own thread.
