Thread: wifi woes

i installed 12.04, have been having trouble installing wireless. lan works fine, , adaptor works fine under windows 7. during istallation live-cd, ubuntu recognised fine , able search networks. after finished installation, nothing happens. meh.

ran lsusb, , gets listed fine (as realtek semiconductor corp rtl81188cus).

'additional drivers' lists nvidia drivers, nothing wireless connection.

ndiswrapper fails because there's exe-file on installation cd, , archive manager isn't able open file inf.

thoughts?

try realtek software available on website. linux driver's down page little:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...rue#rtl8188cus

there should read me file there tell simple. should like; extract downloaded file folder, in terminal navigate folder have extracted the driver to, these 3 commands 1 after other:

code:
sudo su make make install
avoid ndiswrapper. largely superseded.
