Thread: Upgrade breaks X : nvidia configuration

upgraded lucid. seems work fine, except x (error message "failed load session ubuntu"). have nailed down nvidia issue (at least think so).
in dmesg :

[ 26.475527] nvrm: nvidia geforce fx 5200 gpu installed in system is
[ 26.475537] nvrm: supported through nvidia 173.14.xx legacy drivers. please

can see have downloaded , installed legacy drivers system asking for, without change. assume may because probe graphics card comes before nvidia driver loaded.
have tried removing nvidia , reinstall legacy driver, didnt work either.

worked fine on lucid way. dont understand why upgrade should break this. not enough backwards comp testing guess.

suggestions?
