hello everyone, on dell xps | 15z. no matter flavor of linux install touchpad doesn't automagically work. have open terminal , type

sudo modprobe -r psmouse
sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps

have been told there rc2.d can insert script startup , run command. if true wondering if hand holding or link. have no idea other told names important, names starting 99 run last in list. want name script 99something. know nothing scripts. can please!??

another option put in /etc/rc.local runs after else during boot. runs root, no need sudo within rc.local, use full path modprobe.

edit rc.local terminal: sudo nano /etc/rc.local
