Thread: Roll Back Compiler or Distro?

should keep 12.04 , replace it's g++ compiler (4.6.3-1) older compiler (e.g., 4.5.2-6) compile code need compile, or should delete 12.04 installation, replacing 11.04 installation, includes compiler works code?

background: have extensive c++ library provided third party. need compile library, , add code it. modifying existing library, or getting providers update work newer compiler not options.

have multiple ubuntu installations. i'll list them here, along corresponding g++ version, , whether or not compile code:

10.04 4.4.3-4 works

11.04 4.5.2-6 works

12.04 4.6.3-1 not work.

appreciative of suggestions regarding how proceed.

i don't know better choice, seems can install older version of gcc in parallel current version.

looking @ android development , looking @ blog entry.
http://blog.markloiseau.com/2012/07/...-ubuntu-12-04/

in entry, author installs gcc 4.4 (and related c++ compiler) , re-linking use it. suggests reversible 4.6 since new version not deleted.

anyway, seems should quick try out.
