Thread: update problems. since 12.04 installation


since updating 12.04 pc has mind of own shuts down on own have re boot action pc.
locks after few minuites getting pain have use laptop access anything.





:encountered section no package: header, eroblem mergelist /var/lib/apt/lists/gb.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise_univers e_binary-i386_packages, e:the package lists or status file not parsed or opened.'

hmmm...if understand correctly, may have had similar issue. think boot computer 12.04 cd or usb flash drive (whichever version have installed - ubuntu, kubuntu, xubuntu etc.) use gparted check , repair hard drive partition have ubuntu installed in.

far updates issue worked me:

in terminal type following code, pressing "enter" after each line of code:

sudo apt-get clean  cd /var/lib/apt  sudo mv lists lists.old  sudo mkdir -p lists/partial  sudo apt-get update

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
