I need help with drop down lists

i have form not have lots of space , want use drop down lists fill in specific information describes site conditions.  problem have drop down list set single line , not enough space want in drop down list.  in other words, have items several sentences.   have seen descriptions of creating drop down list fills in text box has multiple lines.  unfortunately, not ideal solution me.  want drop down list select single phrase.  here example of want able select in drop down.

 

the water heater spilled flue gases in excess of 5 minutes under worst case conditions.  combusiton testing completed in 30 days of invoice submittal.

how many items in dropdown? objection having dropdown populate multiline text field?
