Thread: What version of ubuntu 12.04 lts to install?


i new ubuntu operating system. tried on old dell desktop , liking it. want install on laptop not sure version should use ( used 32bit old desktop).
here laptop specs
amd anthlon (tm) dual core 2.2
3gb of ram
64 bit operating system.

want use use on laptop because reason windows 7 crash after 10 mins or so.
suggest dual booting? or remove windows

if windows preinstalled may want give thought removing if don't have way of restoring via disk or recovery partition on hard drive.

collage student windows must me.i use windows gaming eliminates need using wine run windows applications in ubuntu. wine runs applications , others don't work or run poorly. dual booting works best me right now.

if decide dual boot try , windows problem figured out before proceeding.

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
