Thread: Matrox G450 video card and Ubuntu 12.04 or Earlier Version?

hi members,

been long day! in fact i've been @ days trying install ubuntu 12.04 lts no success. keep receiving error message during install. error message said, “the installer encountered unrecoverable error".

"i think" narrowed down matrox g450 video card purchased in 2001. dual screen video card works on system. i'm still running windows 2000 on particular system.

got off phone matrox , told me matrox g450 card not work on version of ubuntu 11.0 or higher. tech kind enough point way linux driver download said older versions of ubuntu.

have thoughts on "older" version of ubuntu should download thatt work on system running matrox g450 graphics card? don't need dual screen function. able install ubuntu. or if worth effort. not going backwards in regards installing older version of ubuntu choices please?

found link older versions of ubuntu.

http://releases.ubuntu.com/

thank you.

depending live it's better investing in more recent card, using older ubuntu. besides, don't have many options.

older still supported version 10.04 lts supported 1 more year too. (edit: in fact, less year, until april 2013).

can answer if that's worth or not. cheap second hand card on ebay or similar?
