Thread: Acer Aspire One D257 w/ 10.04 Lucid: Wi-Fi disabled


my girlfriend bought mom acer aspire 1 d257 netbook, comes windows 7.
installed ubuntu 10.04 lts lucid (which use on our computers) on it, dual-boot option. however, wi-fi disabled default , it's not possible turn on via keyboard shortcut. we're apparently not tech-savvy enough have clue do.
wi-fi appears work when booting windows, no way we're connecting windows system internet (and risk epidemic of malware)! when booting ubuntu, ethernet cable connection works fine , we've been using update system sometimes.

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
