Thread: 12.04 Black screen with blinking cursor


hello everyone,
ubuntu 12.04 starts livecd fails start after complete installation, black screen blinking cursor. tried holding shift key , edit grub options holding shift did not anything. give up, suggestions?
dell p4 desktop
1 gb ram
nvidia graphics card ( tried removing card , using on board intel card useless)
have tried installation many times, manually creating swap , mountpoint well. please

understand it, hitting key after bios screen should bring boot options menu.
@ point choosing "nomodeset" option should allow boot system; use hardware drivers utility install graphics driver.

(1) firstly, download , install gtkmm windows using wine. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
