Can the auto-number appear one line above the list item?

is there formatting trick can move list number line above (numbered) paragraph?

the 'paragraph' numbered header appear as:

instead, header automatically appear as:

i'm looking method won't prevent number , associated text/header displaying (i.e. number , text on single line) in table of contents.

i think way accomplish woud after done. convert autonumbering text can access it, grep find/change.

search ^([\d.]+)(\t) (presuming you've got tab after number), change $1\n
