Thread: Samba Sharing - Failed to retrieve...

i have 2 computers, both new installs of 12.04. 1 called vostro other asus. no windows machines in sight!

after installing samba on both getting "failed retrieve share list server message" when trying access vostro.

followed number of threads , made numerous changes (which tried reverse) , in unknown state need diagnose error messages.

on asus can access shared folder on asus (itself) can't access vostro.
on vostro "failed retrieve" message when trying open workgroup.

on vostro following code showing asus (192.168.0.103) can seen not vostro (192.168.0.102):

i believe error lies in vostro @ loss now. removing samba , reinstalling didn't odd because have never had problem samba on previous version. pointers welcome.

check if port 445 , 139 open @ vostro
