Thread: How to backup gnome gui in ubuntu server


hi alli installed ubuntu server on computer installed gui in using command :- sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktopnow want re-install ubuntu server.i wanna know there way backup gui.it downloads 400mb files , net slow.so wanna make backup of gui dont have download gui files again after re-install ubuntu-server.

if going install ubuntu server , install ubuntu-desktop package on may install desktop version of ubuntu start with, end same system.

question, should able .deb files found in /var/apt/cache/ , restore them new installation before installing ubuntu-desktop.

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
