Thread: fstab automount smb fails

i'm trying automount drives smb fstab entries such.

code:

# auto mount hda shares  //hda/deannasdocs /home/deanna/deannasserverdocs cifs user=deanna,pasword=** 0 0  //hda/music       /home/deanna/servermusic        cifs user=deanna,pasword=** 0 0  //hda/pictures    /home/deanna/serverphotos      cifs user=deanna,pasword=** 0 0

if click on 1 of these drives error "only root can mount"

if manually mount with

code:

sudo mount -a

i'm prompted password , mount fine. heck going on here?

of course stupid.

copied syntax fro mount offline , has "pasword" instead of "password". stood out thought unix foible.
