Thread: Display corruption and crashes running 12.04 with Nvidia drivers


hello all. ever since upgraded 11.10 12.04 i've been having display problems. basic symptom display buffer appears corrupted. seems affect alt-tab display - instead of seeing little pictures of windows boxes windows have garbage in them, random text , messed images. after spreads status bar @ top of screen , windows - example, emacs have garbage text across top of window , inside buffer area. switching vt , x clear it, not. system lock , i'll have restart.

far fix i've found running unity 2d, frankly that's not great @ all. feels second-class environment.

i've tried upgrading nvidia drivers twice - first 304.37 304.43 yesterday, both times using nvidia's installer. before running 295.59. i'm updated running 3.2.0-29-generic kernel. machine thinkpad t510 dedicated gpu - nvs 3100m, aka gt218.

don't see useful in x logs or in syslog, let me know if want see them anyway.

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
