Thread: Rezise partition on Dual-booted Y580 w/ SSD


so got new laptop ideapad y580, , swapped hdd samsung 830 256gb ssd.

made gpt:
size format name
4mb - bios_grub
100mb fat32 efi
25gb ext4 ubuntu
85gb ntfs data
130gb ntfs windows

installed windows 7 pro 64bit, worked fine, had bit of driver issue, got sorted. attempted install ubuntu 12.0 64bit, live cd wouldn't work. gave me "error: prefix not set" followed selection menu (try ubuntu, install ubuntu, check disk), , clicking of them resulted in error "could not find / root filesystem".

went , installed ubuntu 32-bit. works fine, have go bios switch ubuntu. gpt looks like:
size format used name
4mb - 4mb bios_grub
100mb fat32 22mb efi
25gb ext3 0 ubuntu
85gb ntfs 0 data
128mb other 128mb reserved partition
128gb ntfs 59gb data partition (windows)



don't need data partition, want remove , give space windows parition , linux. however, no parition software letting me that.

main question is:
- in set-up did go wrong?
ideally grub there, , not have format drive , start over, if have to.

suggestions, comments, help.

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
