Thread: emachine w4685 ubuntu installation


i experienced linux , ubuntu. intermediate in linux. downloaded 12.04 image file , burned cd , tested on laptop, worked fine (just did option "try out ubuntu"). wanted put ubuntu in old emachine w4685 has messed windows xp on it, when put cd in computer did not boot it. went motherboard menu , boot settings are:
first boot: cdrom
second boot: removable
third boot: hard disk

can't find out how boot menu can on laptop (i hit f12 or something). set boot settings to:
first boot: cdrom
second: disabled
third: disabled
when did got message said "disk boot failure, insert system disk , press enter". don't know do.

possible me boot ubuntu off cd emachine. , if not there way can windows off of , install ubuntu out cd? thank in advance.

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
