Thread: 12.04 dont detect SATA Disks

hi everyone:

downloaded/check md5 iso 64bit.
burned it, , when installing did not detect 2 sata disks.

mobo asus a8v-x.

have been reading might bios setting, it? if so, whats setting should use?

on second level, , less important: desambiguation: sata (serial ata), dont mean have use raid (a logical configuration of disks). have been reading lot, , got mixed up, or perhaps there did not know.

if disks have been used in raid, there meta data remains , installer ignoring them.

first go bios , set sata mode ahci. no, don't need use raid if don't want to.

after making sure sata mode ahci, boot ubuntu cd in live mode (try ubuntu), open terminal , execute:
code:
sudo dmraid -e -r /dev/sda sudo dmraid -e -r /dev/sdb
that remove meta data , installer should work fine after that.

note: not run above commands if using raid because break array. install on raid different procedure.
