Thread: Terrible Hardware Problems


please, please help.
want install ubuntu 12.04 64 bit on new computer, it's not working @ all. here problems:

when attempt boot using live cd, message 'error: "prefix' not set', grub menu appears (it doesn't live cd). when select 'try' option, computer freezes , have switch off.

tried booting usb drive using unetbootin, , same thing happened, got ubuntu desktop. unfortunately ubuntu desktop frenzy of flashing bars, ghost images, , multi-coloured noise. (perhaps it's graphics driver problem). can barely make out desktop behind mess. happens other linux distros: tried opensuse kde , had same problem. should add doing screenshot still produces perfect image though. hardware fine - windows works perfectly.

luckily managed lshw, lspci , lsmod , i've attached results.

computer hp omni 120-1130ea.

not sure if couldn't boot off live image on dell xps l702x either, 'alternate' cd version worked fine.

hi, if developing platform independent software in linux using gtk+/gtkmm , you've managed cross compile windows, guide you. i'm posting because after researching topic myself, encountered many posts people have abandoned gtk+/gtkmm wxwidgets because of gtks ugly default appearance in windows/wine. gtk+ themeable in windows/wine gnome. have set correctly . . . here's how. guide gtkmm gtk+ similar. (1) firstly, download , install gtkmm windows using wine. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
