Thread: Ubuntu Software Center Not Working Properly


hi vishal,
stuck in problem related ubuntu software center not installing software select software center,
when click on instal button shows "installing" 1 sec , gone normal means not installing, have tried many commands on terminal
purged software center , re-installed again through commands
synaptic package manager not working start main menu.

when use commands following in terminal both applications works fine installs application choose install:
1. gksu software-center
2. gksu synaptic

don't know why these applications not working normal
works commands in terminal not start menu

newbie ubuntu user. plz me

system conf:
xubuntu xfce 12.04
genuine intel pentium 4 processor
1gb ram
80gb hdd
256mb ati graphics card

rest works fine, love os, problems me alot because of software installation

in advance....

are able install software terminal using apt-get?
can post output (in code tags #) of:

sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install my-app
where my-app program trying install.

edit: starting software center , synaptic gksu starts programs super user privileges. when start synaptic should prompt password gain super user privileges.

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
