dear friends,

im pretty new ubuntu , using version 12.i use samsung laptop.
have started ignoring windows seven.but problem ubuntu screen brightness reset maximum whenever start ubuntu.i have decrease manually every time when log in.the function keys manage screen brightness fails decrease backlight.its set high.so problem?.what should on come situation.

me solve issue.

continue using ubuntu once solve issue.

pasted steps here:

1. create file in /etc/init.d/file_name,
sudo nano /etc/init.d/file_name
2. copy , paste code below , save.
setpci -s 00:02.0 f4.b=50
3. lets set permissions.
sudo chown 755 /etc/init.d/file_name
4. want script run on boot up.
sudo update-rc.d file_name defaults
restart ubuntu , script created run on boot-up automatically.

hello! i'm trying setup software raid on server, fail @ first step: code: root@sandnabba:/root# mdadm -c /dev/md0 -c512 -l5 /dev/sdc1 /dev/sdd1 /dev/sde1 mdadm: no raid-devices specified. what doing wrong!? are sure -c equivalent --create? also, think need space after -c , -l options, value shouldn't command, or should have = between. @ man pages mdadm , double check spelling. Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
