Thread: What Keeps Ruby Back?

i reading pickaxe after years of keeping there on e-reader.

have been willing learn , use ruby, , since reading book now, having lot of fun. mean have been programming in different languages (c, c++, c#, vb, vb.net, python, java, php, x86 assembly) 10 years , never had fun!

makes me think: makes ruby less popular?

1 reason thinking introduction of blocks. different way of thinking older, traditional developers. must got me thinking while understand theory, once grasp it, provides new , fun way of using language.

think reason might be? (please don't start language war )

i have perl quickie scripts , heavy text processing tasks. have python longer scripts demand little more structure. don't feel compelling need learn scripting language.

code:
$perl->age() > python.age() > ruby.age
could simple that?

edit clear: picked on perl , python because, based on experience, directly compete ruby on points; other languages c, c#, java, , php might found in same environments 1 reason or another, overlap less complete.
