Autosave in Indesign doesn´t work

the outosave function indesign doesn´t work. open document, changes, rename document, more changes, save old document, open first document , firs changes made gone.

 

i´ve lost hours of work week. worng?

what autosave that? indesign doesn't have one.

 

there's excellent recovery feature that's it. , i'm still not sure

of you've done here perhaps can expand on bit.
