Thread: Your Preferred Package Manager


today booting vm, when virtualbox notified me there update available.
so, downloaded file, went open it, , got reply "the ubuntu software center has unexpectedly closed". seems happens every time try open .deb file without having launched software center sometime after turned on computer.
have gdebi , synaptic on computer (gdebi great installing packages software center won't work due being "incomplete"; synaptic multi-package installs), , use both of them frequently.
so, primary package manager? stick software center? or use application synaptic? how combination of both?
prefer software center looking @ apps , deciding ones want (and installing .deb files find online), , synaptic installing packages found in software center.

Thread: Twinview issues

hi all, recovered white screen of death having reinstalling nvidia drivers via command line in recovery mode. when rebooted after that, fine, except 1 of monitors not displaying anything. ran sudo nvidia xconfig, created conf file me, issue not resolved. in x server settings, secondary monitor (the 1 not displaying), detected , enabled in twinview, resolution not detected , screen black. if try switching workspaces, little window showing workspaces show second monitor sitting next monitor, same in x server settings. options have resolving this? lot!
