Thread: upgraded to 12.04, updated fglrx, now my keyboard and mouse dont work

i had 10.04 machine ati radeon video card.

updated 12.04, cool
went upgrade fglrx binary version website
"amd-driver-installer-12.6-legacy-x86.x86_64.zip"

used .run file create deb package
used dpkg -i install deb package

wanted reboot.. things went awry..
upon reboot login screen , no keyboard or mouse.

..
can ssh box.. , seems fine.. except cannot seem recognize keyboard , mouse on login screen.

lsusb says keyboard there..
can , use bios keyboard , mouse
cant interrupt boot grub on thing..

have uninstalled fglrx, reinstalled it, removed , tried installing 1 repositories, same same.. no keyboard or mouse.. know going on this.. ?

an update,
since new upgrade..
held down left shift while booting
offered 3.2.0-29 1 has no keyboard.
(pressing e menu tells me virtual image of sort)
selecting recovery image main grub menu gives me ansi graphic no keyboard or mouse..

if select other linux versions, can see old 10.04 kernels , 2 other generic versions of 3.2.0-29
main 1 gives me mouse , keyboard (i think because video black) numlock works on keyboard.. if blind login see numlock blink when log in..
if log in using generic recovery, , hit resume normal boot

, logs in , keyboard worked , everything

went through following reinstall fglrx
sudo apt-get purge fglrx*
sudo update-alternatives --remove-all x86_64-linux-gnu_gl_conf
sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-dri libgl1-mesa-glx
sudo dpkg -i fglrx*.deb
sudo update-alternatives --install /etc/ld.so.conf.d/x86_64-linux-gnu_gl.conf x86_64-linux-gnu_gl_conf /usr/lib/fglrx/ld.so.conf 100 --slave /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules x86_64-linux-gnu_xorg_extra_modules /usr/lib/fglrx/xorg/modules/
sudo ldconfig
and installed fglrx on generic kernel.
, startx in recovery mode on generic , looses keyboard , mouse.. curious going on anyone??
