Thread: Attempt to Install Debian 6.0.5


yesterday attempted install debian; install failed because there not understand partition manager.

in dual boot windows xp : ubuntu 10.04 ue
during install choose options manually install.
choose partition thought ubuntu swap.
didn't know till today swap in not recommended. tried undue changes partition choose swap; did not work. takes me screen of partitions on system when choose finish partitioning , write changes disk. ( i'm going in circles)

realize must choose file root / partition manager takes me screen partitions listed , not let me continue

no root file system defined please correct partition menu
i know fat 32 , ntfs windows xp partitions.
don't know , having difficulity determining 1 of these partitions ubuntu-

logical  97.5 gb  ext 4 logical  4.2 gb  f  swap swap logical  248.1 gb
i think choose wrong 1 swap
not sure here.....any advise great

i pretty sure ext4 ubuntu partition.

248.1 gb 1 seems free space me since there no file system.

error getting because did not specify root mount point.

when make partition debian install -- in option mount point backslash... "/"

hope makes sense.
