Thread: How can I handle Filemaker Pro files in Linux?

this new thread on topic @ request of mod.

i've started using ubuntu (12.04) , i'm looking way migrate filemaker pro files open-source database. i've installed libreoffice base either need find common file format filemaker can export , base can import or application can open and/or convert filemaker files.

i'm lazy sod @ best of times i'd prefer solution avoids me having re-create layouts scratch. far can see formats exported version of filemaker are:

.tab : tab-separated text
.csv : comma-separated text

know these contain data. following ones have no knowledge of:

.slk : sylk
.dbf : dbf
.wk1 : lotus 1-2-3
.bas : basic (is in basic programming language?)
.mer : merge
.htm : html table files

can of these formats opened/imported base? if not can suggest open-source database application or conversion utility can handle of them, or better still open native .fp5 files?

can export .dbf. old dbase file structure known , has column info @ beginning of file.

conversion issue. data types never map new data type. times text has invalid characters or quotes in names confuse conversion software. , more types of databases use more difficult be.
